Teen Stuff

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

icecreameat.jpgAt the beginning of the year our teenagers expressed that their biggest desire for this year would be to get really tight with their Lord Jesus, and to show what they meant they intertwined their fingers, saying: “This close!”
Well, now, at the end of the year we can honestly say that their hearts have been touched in meaningful ways and they are developing a growing passion to see their unsaved friends and family members saved.
Whenever we give these teens an opportunity to find a quiet place for a conversation with their Heavenly Father they usually return with amazing reports. Our encouragement to them is to find such quality times in their homes in spite of busy schedules. Imagine what could happen if they allowed the Holy Spirit to speak to them on a regular basis?
The participation in an all teen girls conference, called REVOLVE, led by Women of Faith (there were about 20.000 attending), was very encouraging to a group of nine local girls, which Marianne had the privilege to co-lead with a local lady Pastor. Straight talk about self worth, family and boys from God’s perspective brought tears to every set of eyes. Comments such as: “I know now that God is my Daddy.” “Why are we listening to all that garbage music, if there is such great Christian music?” summarized some of the experience we had.
We left with a new cohesiveness as a group—we were not a group before—and are planning to meet for encouragement and prayer on a monthly basis, hoping to attract more girls to hang out and receive special attention from their Daddy God. We hope to have our first meeting during Christmas break.
We are encouraged and looking forward with growing excitement to God’s transforming work in this generation; like we sing in our meetings: “Oh God, let us be a generation that seeks, that seeks Your face, oh God of Jacob.”

2007 Outreach Teams

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

During July and August we were blessed by two outreach teams from Oregon. ccpuppets.jpg

The teams did a great job in reaching out to our community and especially in relating to our young people. They did a lot of practical work, such as laying of carpet, painting and assisting several tribal elders with needed work. We also had the fourth annual Kamiah Hoop Camp and Vacation Bible School and a very well prepared Field Day with games, sweets and activities.
Every time, we are so encouraged to see how young people give their time, their gifts, their whole life to the Lord., working hard in His Service. It would be so much easier to spend their vacation at the beach or doing other „fun“ things.

To see how their dedication and service for the Lord enriches them, is priceless—and contagious!

Wanted: New Ministry Home for YWAM Kamiah

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Kamiah HillsIn June we moved out of the building that housed our office and room for gatherings. You probably remember that this facility was generously provided for our use during the last 10 years by our friends, the Wasem‘s. Now they need the building themselves and we have been looking for alternatives for quite a while.
We thought we had found a good solution, when a local church was selling their old parsonage building, a double wide trailer house. Another local church had offered us space on their property to set up the building. We submitted an offer for the parsonage building but a day before the church board was to make a decision, they received another substantially higher offer, which the board decided to take.
This meant we had to find an alternate temporary solution. We decided to move essential equipment and furniture into our guest room and rented a small storage unit for other furniture items, files, etc.
We had prayed for quite some time, (and we thank all of you who prayed with us), that we would clearly experience guidance from the Lord in this situation and we think that this answer, even though it was unexpected reflects God‘s wisdom and we can rest in that.
Please join us in prayer, that the appropriate doors for the right property open and that the needed finances will be available for a modest but suitable facility to house our office, meeting rooms and lodging for students, staff and guests, especially in light of our DTS scheduled for 2009. Warriors Leadership Summit

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

We had the opportunity to accompany a wonderful team of young people to the On Eagles Wings Leadership Summit, hosted by Ron Hutchcraft Ministries in Roach, Missouri. We traveled in a bus. Volkhard was a relief driver.
The Summit brought about 500 Native American and First Nations young people together for a few days of encouragement and traning.
The team of 35 young people from our area was lead by our friends Bill & Lori Picard. We joined with three other young people from the Coeur d“Alene Reservation, North of us.
After the Summit, two groups of about 25 young people each were selected to travel to several different reservations in the US and Canada to bring the hope and light of Jesus to many hopeless people
Although the bus we traveled in was more than 30 years old, it served us well on the long journey and back.
It was a very encouraging experience for us to observe hundreds of young Native people worshipping the Lord, greatly touched by the Holy Spirits work within them.
Kyle, one of the young Nez Perce, who we have shared about before was part of the outreach team. He was able to lead three young people to the Lord!!! He is now completing his last year of school
